Dream Building is essential in these uncertain times. Recently I have had cause to regularly ask people about their dreams and I have been left feeling saddened by the downturn in dream building - ie not the downturn in the economy but the downturn in dream building!!! What do I mean by this....
In life sometimes even the most choleric or sanguine personalities can undergo depression - not necessarily a clinical depression but a loss of heart or hope.
We need dreams... they help us focus on what life could be ...only if...
A couple of years ago I was blessed and so had the chance to change my life so my daydreaming of "what would I do if I won lotto?" or "what would I do if I found a rich husband?" came in very handy!
Tips to building your dreams
1 make a list of your dreams - try and reach 10 or even 100 dreams and tick these off as you go along. These can be anything from having enough money to pay your rent, getting out of your current debt, visiting your sponsor children, paying for your relatives in Europe to come to Australia to visit
2 commit to those dreams - perhaps start off really small if that is easier. eg buying that skincare kit to look and feel younger, or joining that extra special gym to get fit and meet motivated people
3 make a plan - keep on the lookout for opportunities to achieve those dreams. Hint: if there are possibilities of working with others - companies or people - with fantastic reputations - become involved with them
4 work with a team of supporters - surround your everyday with positive people who think big and encourage you. If there are phlegmatics or melancholies in your household - reduce the influence they have on you and increase the influence you have on them - eg watching or listening to motivational movies, film clips, cd's, inspiring music, read books, and say positive affirmations
5 journal daily or at least a couple of times a week and record your journey for prosterity and maybe publishing later - share your experiences with those around you - inspire others. Notice that sometimes even perceived negatives can be inspiring.
6 be the person you want to become - live life to the full, learn everyday, laugh heartily and love expansively
And the Winner is….
